For Swiss consultancy and IT service provider adesso, the financial year 2019 was one shaped by challenging customer projects. The demand for nearshore services saw a noticeable increase from a lot of companies. adesso was able to provide these services thanks to its sites in Turkey, Bulgaria and Spain. In addition, employees’ workload was consistently high in the second half of the year in particular. In turn, this enabled adesso Schweiz to achieve record sales once again.
The positive trend in the order situation has continued into the start of the current year, as the workload remains high and projects are running smoothly. Customers often require scalability at incredibly short notice and it is up to the service provider to ensure this. Thanks to its Group structure boasting more than 4,000 employees, adesso has an extensive pool of experts and comprehensive portfolio of services at its disposal that it can call upon when necessary. In addition, the new organisational structure introduced at the start of 2019, which uses ‘lines of business’ as a basis, offers increased scalability and means adesso Schweiz AG can now operate even more directly and with even greater alignment to the customers’ requirements.
The adesso Group also continued to drive expansion abroad in the previous year as additional locations were opened in Hungary and the Netherlands to cover further international markets. This means that adesso is now present in nine European countries, with further internationalisation in the pipeline.
adesso’s regional presence in Switzerland was also expanded with the opening of a new office in Lugano a few weeks ago. The Canton of Ticino has developed into an important investment location in Europe over the last few years and now offers the perfect conditions for attracting and developing new talent. The new foothold in Lugano means adesso can also tap into sales markets in this region and attract skilled professionals. Here, adesso offers high-end services for the other adesso locations in Switzerland under the banner ‘TI Shore’ – a portmanteau of the words Ticino and onshore – enabling processes and costs to be optimised significantly. Plus, regional customers also have access to the comprehensive portfolio of consultation and IT services.
To form another strategic cornerstone, adesso Schweiz AG has also anchored the new Digital & Innovation department into the organisational structure as an independent line of business. In mid-2019, adesso appointed Dominik Langer, a proven expert in his field. He is now Chief Digital & Innovation Officer and is responsible for significantly boosting technological expertise and innovation both within the company and with customers.
The global economy is facing a new risk factor in the form of the corona pandemic. At adesso, every measure has been implemented to best mitigate the risks for business in 2020 that may arise from this crisis. Even though there has been no noticeable impact on adesso’s business as it stands, the situation is being continually assessed and the consultancy and software development workload is being analysed with greater regularity. Managing Director Hansjörg Süess is confident: “adesso is in a good position to both guarantee that the business operation will run as normal and to the standard we are used to, as well as put the relevant measures in place should we notice trends developing. However, the current situation also demonstrates how important it has become for companies and organisation to digitalise their business further so that they can hit the ground running once we have emerged from this unique situation in which we find ourselves because of Covid-19.”
