adesso Schweiz achieves record sales again

adesso Schweiz AG once again reported record sales totalling CHF 72.5 million in the previous financial year 2020. This represents strong growth of 17 per cent compared to the previous year. The total number of employees increased to 370.

The financial year 2020 of the Swiss consultancy and IT service provider adesso can be described as very successful, despite the generally difficult economic circumstances. In turn, this enabled adesso Schweiz to achieve again record sales in the past year. Having already increased sales by 21 per cent in 2019, the company achieved impressive growth of 17 per cent in the past financial year compared to the previous year.

Managing to achieve such growth in this year of the coronavirus pandemic, in which many companies have had to contend with heavy sales losses, is not something to be taken for granted. During the past year, many companies were suddenly under enormous pressure to act, that is, to digitalise, and to do it as quickly as possible. Customers needed solutions that enabled them to bring their (adapted) business models to market quickly and efficiently. This is exactly where adesso’s portfolio of services comes in.

Flexible and independent digitalisation with low-code
The topic of low-code has become particularly relevant given the current challenges and is also increasingly in demand among Swiss companies. The modern software paradigm also allows people with little engineering background to implement applications and therefore opens up new opportunities for achieving digitalisation projects faster and more flexibly – which is all the more important in such turbulent times. Low-code solutions from adesso enable the creation of simple and uncomplicated results thanks to the comprehensive range of services and customer-specific consultations.

Successful site in the Swiss canton of Ticino
Although the fifth office in Lugano opened only shortly before the first lockdown in Switzerland, adesso got off to a very successful start in Ticino and recorded strong growth in 2020. The initial office space has already been doubled. The new onshore location within the national border is a massive advantage, particularly in this current period of travel restrictions, and currently serves numerous business customers from German-speaking Switzerland. In addition, the canton of Ticino has become an important innovation site in Europe in recent years, offering the perfect conditions for attracting and developing new talent and enabling process and cost optimisation for the other adesso sites in Switzerland.

adesso supports the pharmaceutical industry
As a result of the pandemic, the services provided by the pharmaceutical industry have become even more relevant to the general population than they were already. The whole vaccine issue and accompanying regulations are literally life-saving at the moment. The adesso ‘Life Sciences’ business line was able to continue to expand its strong role in 2020 and support companies in the pharmaceutical industry, medical technology sector and laboratory diagnostics area with in-depth expertise and excellent solutions.

Flexible thanks to scalability
The Swiss national company of the adesso Group can guarantee rapid scalability due to its international group structure with about 5,000 employees. If required, there is the option to draw on a very large pool of experts. This means that a high level of quality can be ensured at all times. This flexibility is an enormous advantage, especially during times when it is difficult to plan anything with certainty.

adesso is part of a strong group
If we look beyond the national border, a similarly successful picture of the past financial year emerges: The business model of adesso SE and customer groups from sectors such as insurance, banking and healthcare proved to be resilient to the crisis. This also led to pleasing annual accounts in Germany with record sales and results.

What does the future hold?
The market will be grappling with these challenges for some time to come. The challenges will also put pressure on companies to adapt quickly to changing conditions. Cloud-based infrastructure is an essential basis for this. For many Swiss customers, it is important to have cloud solutions from their own country. Soon, all of the top three hyperscalers will have data centres within our national borders, which will further accelerate the transformation to the cloud. adesso is also aware of the increased demand and is counting on partnerships with all three leading hyperscalers. The consultancy and IT service provider supports customers both in migrating classic applications to the cloud and in developing and operating new cloud-native applications.

‘The roles of business and IT are merging even further as a result of the wave of digitalisation we’re currently experiencing. We can start right there with our portfolio of services, optimise the business processes of our customers and take their degree of digitalisation to a new level,’ says Hansjörg Süess, CEO and Delegate of the Board of Directors of adesso Schweiz AG, adding, ‘As a one-stop shop, we can support companies with flexible solutions – as, when and where they need it at the time.’
